Heineken will be sponsoring ITV’s coverage of the 1998 rugby union Five Nations competition. The games however will not be shown live as BSkyB has exclusive live rights to all England home games and BBC1 will be screening live coverage of the other fixtures.
Heineken has a long-standing relationship with top-class rugby union: it sponsored ITV’s live coverage of the 1995 World Cup and is currently sponsor of the European Cup, which is broadcast live on Sky Sports 2. It is also tipped to be the sponsor of the 1999 World Cup which will be held in Wales.
ITV will today announce the details of its forthcoming rugby union coverage, including its team of presenters. Newsline will be attending the press conference.
