High Revenue Growth For Commercial Radio

Commercial radio this year saw a total revenue growth of 18.5% reaching £390 million. It achieved its higher ever quarter revenue with an increase of 27.7% year on year, reaching a figure of £112 million.

According to the Radio Advertising Bureau (RAB), much of this year’s growth can be attributed to increased demand from national advertisers, and new brands using the medium. Established advertisers continued to increase their spend – the second quarter of 1998 showed a 37.2% increase in spend from national advertisers – and radio advertising saw some newcomers.
