Video Networks has announced plans to double the number of households in London able to receive HomeChoice, its on-demand television and high-speed internet service, after revealing a 15,000 increase in its subscription base.
The announcement will be made today at a conference in Paris, by Rodger Lynch, chief executive of Video Networks. Homechoice is currently available to 1.2 million homes in London and the company predicts that, by June 2005, 2.4 million homes will have subscribed.
Mr Lynch said that HomeChoice was already taking a 20% share of new subscribers in London against BT Yahoo!, AOL Broadband and Wandadoo. He commented: “Considering we only put our new marketing strategy in place in September, to get one in five new subscribers is pretty good, I think.”
HomeChoice has worked hard to convince new customers to subscribe. A heavyweight marketing scheme, announced last September, saw the company spend £2 million to dominate London’s outdoor, print and radio media throughout September and October in an attempt to boost its subscriber base in the capital (see HomeChoice Unveils Campaign To Dominate London’s Media).
Last year saw HomeChoice announce an extension to the range of its services, covering an additional 100,000 homes across London and the south-east, marking the company’s first venture outside the M25 (see HomeChoice Boosts Coverage To Customers Outside London).
