National Magazines’ House Beautiful, which cut its cover price to £1 for the August issue “to boost a weak summer market”, has announced a more permanent price cut from £1.40 to £1.30. Its most direct competitor, Homes & Ideas costs £1.20 monthly.
House Beautiful announced a new ABC of 320,396 recently, 6.7% down on July-Dec but up 4% on the same period last year. Homes & Ideas’ first ABC (total) came in at 293,551.
The court case brought by National Magazines against IPC for ” direct imitation” is due to be heard in March.
