UTV Media, owner of talkSPORT radio and free magazine Sport, has announced that Mindshare’s Howard Bareham will take on the new role of commercial development director.
Bareham will be responsible for developing commercial revenues across UTV’s key assets, which also include talkSPORT International, UTV’s digital media and 13 independent local radio stations in England and Wales.
Currently head of radio at Mindshare and Group M, where he has held the role for the last eight years, Bareham began his advertising career with Saatchi & Saatchi before stints at Zenith Media and O&M Media throughout the 1990s.
“Howard is a highly respected and talented media professional with a wealth of advertising experience which will be hugely beneficial to UTV, complementing the first class team currently driving our commercial activities,” said Scott Taunton, managing director, UTV Media.
“He will work with our senior management team to identify and develop new commercial opportunities to ensure UTV Media GB continues to lead the way with innovative and engaging initiatives to drive our clients’ business.”
Bareham added: “I have enjoyed a wonderful career at Mindshare and GroupM, but I am looking forward to joining UTV and working with their impressive in-house team to achieve even greater success in the coming years.”
Bareham starts the new role in October.
