Ideal Home Relaunched

IPC Magazines has announced details of its Ideal Home relaunch in June (Newsline 25/04). The title will be repositioned as ‘the ultimate lifestyle magazine for women’.

The relaunch package, which has been masterminded by managing director Chris Boyd and editor-in-chief Sally O’Sullivan, includes a major redesign of the editorial content and cover design, plus a special £1 cover price for the June issue on sale today.

Ideal Home will now have 20-25% more on editorial lifestyle interests and new pages include celebrity interviews, food and wine coverage plus travel pieces and gardening advice. The major development however is the inclusion of fashion and beauty.

A £1 million marketing promotion is in place to support the new editorial which includes a major advertising campaign within key IPC titles and the Daily Mail. There will also be a strong below-the-line campaign including a 15% Laura Ashley discount card on the June issue.

IPC has also announced a raft of new appointments: Cherry Maslen has been appointed as deputy editor of Women’s Journal. She was previously chief sub editor on the title. Two associate publishers have also been promoted to publishers within IPC’s Specialist Group: Robert Tame becomes publisher of IPC’s Music Group whilst Linda Swidenbank moves up to publisher for gardening and photographic magazines.
