IDS To Shift Focus With Major Business Restructure

Interactive Digital Sales (ids) is restructuring its business to focus more of its sell towards media planners and advertisers.

The former sales department of Flextech Television has merged its specialist agency sales (see Flextech Television Sales Gains Independence), business development, client sales and sponsorship teams into two core divisions: agency sales and commercial development.

Agency sales, headed by broadcast and online director Martin Plant, will oversee buying across its TV, interactive and online departments and will focus on negotiations, deal-delivery and agency servicing. Commercial development, jointly headed by head of client sales Nicola Townsend and head of sponsorship Guy Martin, will work to offer media planners and advertisers a more strategic and brand-centric approach.

Dedicated commercial development managers will over see the company’s media brands, which have been split into four distinct groups. The Youth team will sell the Trouble and Extreme brands; Men will focus on the Bravo, PTV, Broadband, UK and History channels; the Lifestyle team will push UK Style and UK Food and the Entertainment team will cover UK Gold, Living, Front Row, UK Horizons, Challenge and UK Drama.

James Wildman, executive sales director of ids, said: “This structure will ensure that we best market the intrinsically higher value of the digital consumer to a broader customer base. We will demonstrate the USPs of our many quality media brands via more tailored advertiser solutions.”

Mark Howe, managing director of ids, added: “I am very pleased that under James’ direction, ids is practising in structure what we preach in our sales strategy, in concentrating on the strength of the digital market and our strong media brands.”

To support the new structure ids has also set up a new brand strategy team to research and promote the value of ids properties to potential clients.
