Ikon Magazine To Fold
Ikon, the lifestyle magazine launched in July last year as a British equivalent of Rolling Stone magazine and which set out to target the rapidly expanding men’s sector has closed and gone into receivership after only five issues.
After an initial print run of 160,000 and first issue sales of 80,000, sales of the £2.20 glossy magazine had reportedly fallen to around 30,000 and losses in excess of £500,000 have mounted.
A spokesman for the magazine stated that there was nothing actually wrong with the content of the magazine which covered films, music, sport and celebrity news, rather there were problems with the publishing and advertising side. However there had been concerns at the launch that such a diverse range of features in one magazine would be unsuccessful.
