ILR Radio Licence For Central Scotland

The Radio Authority’s closing date for receipt of applications for the ILR licence for Central Scotland was yesterday. This is the last of the 5 regional local licences which the Authority expects to award this year. (Licences have already been awarded for the Severn Estuary, the North West and the North East; the West Midlands is to be awarded in October).

The licence will be for 8 years; it is a condition of all regional licences that they should not come into effect before 1 September 1994.

The licence is for an FM service to cover Glasgow and Edinburgh, and is expected to reach a population of around 2,300,000 adults.

The Radio Authority hopes to award the licence in three months time.
