ITV1’s I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here! attracted over 9 million peak viewers last night.
The reality programme, set in the Australian jungle, banked an average audience share of 35.8% with more than 8.6 million average viewers between 8.30pm and 10pm.
However, ITV1’s special hour-long Coronation Street secured the highest ratings of the evening between 7.30pm and 8.30pm – pulling in almost 10 million peak viewers.
The extended episode, which saw Steve get Becky off in court and Michelle hold a party for her parents in the Rovers, attracted 9.3 million average viewers and a 40.6% audience share.
ITV1’s earlier soap, Emmerdale, also helped the channel to hold on to the peak audience all evening, picking up over 7 million peak viewers and a 32.5% average audience share between 7pm and 7.30pm.
BBC One’s 9pm crime drama, New Tricks, failed to compete with just 3.7 million average viewers and a 15.4% audience share during the hour-long peak time slot.
At the same time, Channel 4’s The Devil’s Whore just pipped BBC Two’s Heroes, pulling in 1.8 million and 1.6 million average viewers respectively.
