iMediapoint Launches With Flextech, Granada And TSMS Inventory

iMediapoint.com, an online media trading service unveiled in September (see Internet Media Trading System Developed By iMediaPoint.com), has secured deals with a number of key media groups to sell airtime, sponsorship and advertising packages via the internet. For iMediapoint’s launch, the company has on board Flextech, Granada and TSMS, each offering selected media inventory to be traded as ‘auction’ via the iMediapoint site.

iMediapoint works by allowing media owners to post their own inventory for buyers to review and purchase either for a fixed price or by auction. Bidding is handled in real time and the final deal is agreed between buyer and seller. The company is planning to develop a reverse system whereby buyers post their particular requirements and invite media owners to put forward suitable packages.

Jean-Louis Velaise, iMediapoint’s managing director, says: “This has been a long time in the planning. We have been consulting with sellers and buyers of all media for over a year to ensure that the service we have developed is of the highest calibre. iMediapoint is a web-based auction service for all traditional and new media which brings greater efficiency to the buying and selling process.”

As well as pay-TV company Flextech and ITV sales houses Granada Media Sales and TSMS, Velaise is set to announce further commitments from major television, radio and print media owners in the coming weeks. However, Velaise says that he is “delighted [to] hit the market with three outstanding clients already on board.”

Commenting on the deal, Flextech’s senior vice-president of sales and commercial affairs, Tony Wheble, said: “Flextech believes a rapid take-up of this type of service is inevitable, the concept of a transactional media portal is something we are confident the media and marketing community will embrace.”

“iMediapoint represents a significant step forward in media sales,” adds Granada Mediasales chief Mick Desmond. “We recognise its potential for the future and the opportunity to carry an enormous range of inventory.”
