In-Car Digital Radios Unveiled

Five manufacturers are set to launch digital radio receivers for cars and will be unveiling them at a press presentation organised by the BBC on 9 July.

Grundig, Kenwood, Bosch/Blaupunkt, Clarion and Pioneer have all developed their version of an in-car digital radio receiver. The BBC is backing these developments to help digital radio attain a successful launch.

Glyn Jones, project director and managing editor for BBC Digital Radio, says: “We have been working closely with manufacturers over a long period of time in bringing digital radio to market and we are delighted that these five manufacturers have taken a lead.”

A recent survey by the Radio Advertising Bureau found that just under one fifth of radio listening takes place in-car (see One Fifth Of Radio Listening Is In-Car).
