The Independent is scrapping its daily third section London, and is replacing it with a weekly section called Metro. Metro, which will be thicker than the London section, will cover commuter districts over the south-east of England. This means an increase in the print run of 50%.
Editorially the section will have a wider focus, and will include listings. Section II of the paper is also to be redesigned. The last edition of London will be on Friday 7th October, with new changes coming into effect on October 10.
