Independent Newspaper Expansion

Independent Newspapers has announced its acquisition of London Recorder Newspapers, and, in a separate deal, the acquisition of Daily Mail and General Trust’s 34.6% interest in The Commuter Publishing Partnership, for a total sum of £1.4m.

The acquisition of London Recorder Newspapers, for an initial sum of £1.5m plus a further estimated £1.5m based on profits, is conditional upon regulatory approval. Tindle Newspapers will retain a 24.9% shareholding in the purchaser.

The nine titles in the Recorder group are:
