Independent Newspapers Adds To Regional Titles

Independent Newspapers has added three new titles to its north-west London portfolio and has redesigned its existing titles in that area.

The company’s regional publishing division, North West London Newspapers (NWLN), has launched the Kensington Times, the Hammersmith Times and the Harrow & Sudbury Chronicle. The publisher’s existing portfolio of titles in that area includes; the Wilsden & Brent Chronicle, the Kilburn Times, the Paddington Times and the Wembley & Kingsbury Times, which have all been redesigned to be more “user friendly”.

NWLN’s general manager, Tony Portelli, said: “The three new titles are designed to compliment our existing publishing footprint offering the best possible exposure for local advertisers. We now serve an area which extends from Harrow to West Hampstead in the north and from Hammersmith to Knightsbridge in the south taking in all on north-west and west from Brent Cross to Putney Bridge.”

Rival local newspaper publisher Johnston Press is currently appealing to the Competition Commission to overturn the Department of Trade and Industry’s decision to prevent its acquisition of eight free weekly newspapers from Trinity Mirror (see Johnston Press Appeals Against DTI Decision).
