Independent – No Price Change Yet

The Independent remains at 30 pence today in the face of increases from both the Times and the Telegraph. The Times is up 5p to 25 pence and the Telegraph is also up 5p to 35p.

Circulation Manager of the Independent, Nick Thompson, said that there were no immediate plans to increase the price of the Independent; he would like to see the price remain at 30p for at least 2 weeks to gain advantage of the floating readers, but admitted that he expects the paper to follow suit shortly.

He also said according to their own figures, circulation for the Independent seems to be stable at over 300,000, with each day in the past week achieving this target. This is attributable to the paper’s revamp, and the publicity surrounding this, said Nick Thompson.
