Independent Staff Oppose MGN Bid

Journalists at the Independent and Independent on Sunday yesterday voted to reject the bid put forward by MGN. Journalists passed a resolution saying that the deal “goes against the principles on which our papers were founded”. They called for the bid to be referred to the Monopolies and Mergers Commission and questioned whether David Montgomery, chief executive of MGN, was “a fit person” to be involved with the Independent titles.
