INR Stations May Break From RAB

According to an article in this week’s Media Week national commercial radio stations are considering breaking away from the Radio Advertising Bureau to form their own “superleague”.

The radio stations, which include Classic FM and Virgin, are said to have written to the RAB calling for an urgent meeting. It is believed that a particular gripe of these stations is the fact that the RAB won’t single out national commercial stations’ figures at Rajar press conferences.

A spokeswoman at the RAB said there was no truth in these reports.

The latest Rajar figures are released today and will be available on Newsline after 5pm.
