Inside Ambient Launches Slap Head Advertising
![]()
Creative agency Inside Ambient has taken ambient advertising to a new level with the launch of “slap head” advertising.
The concept was created by Inside as a way of targeting the elusive 18-25 year old market and offers brands the chance to have their logo tattooed on the back of 100 bald heads for up to a month.
The scheme, which was devised by Inside with Posterscope’s ambient arm Tranzformer, uses temporary henna tattoos and allows advertisers to select their “slap head” subjects from a range of students and unemployed actors. Inside Ambient’s director, Dan Evans, said: “I think its a great idea, advertisers can choose subjects that fit in with their brand and have them do a wide range of things from meeting and greeting shoppers to street marketing and even performing.”
Independent record retailer Fopp has already hired five slap heads to walk around HMV and Virgin record stores and Student Unions in the run up to Christmas.
Evans added: “At the moment the campaign is a one-off but there’s no reason why other brands won’t be interested. I think branded slap heads could be the next fashion statement.”
