InStyle Hits Circulation Target
![]()
Time Life International’s InStyle has said in a publishers statement that it has succeeded in reaching its target circulation of 150,000 during the first five months since launching in the UK. However, unlike rival new title, Condé Nast’s Glamour, which launched around the same time, it will not be included in the ABC figures released next week. The publishers said today that the reason for this was because the title had not been around long enough yet.
While it is said to have exceded its target circulation, albeit by only a few hundred, InStyle is not thought to have been the same runaway success as Glamour, despite the fact that its US version has a circulation of around 1.5 million. The latter title is thought to have left its original target circulation of 200,000 far behind, possibly having doubled it (see Glamour To Release ABC Figure).
Some argue that this has had less to do with Glamour’s famously dinky size, and more to do with its dinky price. Speaking at the Total Publishing show earlier this year, editor Jo Elvin said that there were no immediate plans to change either feature.
