Interactive Advertising Added To The Money Channel
![]()
Digital financial television company the Money Channel is to begin broadcasting interactive advertisements. Today will see the first appearances of healthcare company PPP’s interactive treatment on the channel, during which viewers on the Sky digital satellite platform will be able to request further product information using their TV remote control.
Tony Hobman, chief executive of the Money Channel said, “Interactive advertising transforms the way in which advertising revenue is earned by the Money Channel, as we now move towards an income model based on lead generation rather than the sale of air-time alone.”
The Money Channel also counts a website and pay-per-view service among its assets. Having launched just under a year ago (see The Money Channel Gets Carriage On BSkyB) interested parties will be looking to see if this was a good investment for backers, as the latest BARB figures for the period 7 February 2000 (launch date) to 7 January 2001 show a total of 1,417,000 people have viewed the channel, which achieves an average weekly reach of 135,000 viewers.
