Interactive Services Work With The Internet, Says Survey

Interactive services are being used to complement internet usage, according to a new survey by BMRB. Three-quarters of Sky Digital viewers have used the Open interactive platform, and most of these are regular users of the net.

In fact, only one tenth of Sky Digital viewers who have not yet used the services available on Open, give the fact that they already have internet access as the reason.

But very few have so far used their television sets to send emails, however. Digital cable viewers have been most keen to take up the service, with 37% claiming to have sent emails through their TV set; this compares to only 21% of Sky Digital subscribers and 5% of ONdigital viewers. Those that have tried the service send an average of just 2 emails a month.

Gaming is one the most popular interactive activities, especially amongst young people. Three-fifths of both Sky and ONdigital subscribers have played games interactively, 75% of which are aged between 15 and 24.
