IPA Calls For Firm Regulation Of TV Sales

The IPA has today released details of its submission to the ITC concerning the television airtime sales market.

The IPA has proposed that the ITC introduces firm regulations to prevent anti-competitive practices the market by:

  • The prohibition of any combination of competitive television services (ie ITV regions, GMTV, Channel 4, BSkyB, C5 or the two London stations) being sold together.
  • A maximum size of any single sales grouping of 25% of total UK TV ad revenue
  • All sales points must allow access to regional sales
  • The prohibition of anti-competitive practices by any company in a dominant position.
