IPA’s Blazey To Replace McArthur As JICRIT Chair

Morag Blazey, the IPA’s media policy group spokesperson for radio, has been appointed as the new chairman of JICRIT, replacing Douglas McArthur who has held the position for the last four years.

JICRIT, a joint Venture between the commercial radio industry and the IPA, was established to create an electronic trading system for use by buyers and sellers of radio airtime. The final phase of this development, known as J-ET, launched last October allowing sellers to communicate screen-to-screen throughout the entire trading process.

Blazey said: “While it is unique for the IPA to enter a joint venture with one sector of the media industry, the objectives JICRIT set for itself made it a natural choice for the media agencies to throw their weight behind.”

McArthur added: “We are pleased that a top ranking media chief has agreed to take on chairmanship of JICRIT as it moves into its next phase of bedding the system down and agreeing on priorities for next stage developments.”

The IPA and the RAB welcomed the launch of the J-ET electronic trading system, which has been developed By MediaTel Group, as “ground-breaking”. The industry bodies said that the ability to electronically exchange information will radically reduce the administrative burden traditionally associated with planning and buying radio campaigns (see J-ET Trading System Welcomed As Ground-Breaking).
