IPC Acquires Link House Media For Undisclosed Sum
IPC Magazines has bought Link House Media, of which Link House Magazines is a wholly-owned subsidiary, in the first IPC acquisition since its leveraged buyout in January (see IPC Magazines Gains Independence). The financial consideration for the purchase was not disclosed, although the group was backed by venture capitalists, Cinven, the same group which financed IPC’s management buyout.
Link House currently publishes 27 magazines as well as a number of one-shot publications and annual holiday guides. Its magazines include The Countryman, Superbike and Hi-Fi News & Record Review.
IPC’s chairman, Mike Matthew, said: “Link House has an attractive portfolio of titles which we believe not only fit neatly into the existing IPC publishing groups and enhance our presence within some important sectors, but also opens up several new markets for us including cars, wine and motorcycles.”
IPC is hoping to publish 100 titles by 2000; it currently has a portfolio of 70 magazines.
