IPC has announced that Linda Swidenbank will be the new publisher of Essentials and Woman & Home. Currently publisher of the gardening and photographic titles within the Science and Special Interest Group, Swidenbank first joined IPC in 1989 as assistant publisher on Woman’s Realm, Woman and Me. Her appointment will be effective from October 28.
…The Advertising Association has recruited McCann-Erickson London’s director of marketing David Longman to join its Pro-Advertising Committee. Longman hopes he can use this position to improve what he sees as the ad industry’s recent poor press. Longman joined McCann last December following four years as director of communications at the Radio Advertising Bureau: this appointment does not affect his position at McCann.
