IPC Announces Look Cover Price

Look Magazine Look, the new women’s weekly from IPC Media, will have a cover price of £1.30, 50p less than Emap’s weekly Grazia.

The £18 million launch will see over 1.2 million copies circulated around the UK next week, before the first issue hits newsstands on Tuesday 6 February (see IPC Media Looks To New Women’s Weekly).

Look‘s sample edition will be distributed through supermarkets and shopping centres such as Brent Cross, as well as with the free afternoon newspaper thelondonpaper.

The magazine will also be bagged with IPC’s celebrity weekly Now, which goes on sale next Tuesday.

Evelyn Webster, managing director of IPC Connect, said: “Look is simply the biggest launch in the history of IPC Media. The high street fashion market has never been hotter, with today’s young women living out their decade of indulgence and spending more than ever before on their weekly fashion fix.

“And it’s entirely appropriate that we’ve pulled together a massive and highly sophisticated sampling programme to ensure we put the magazine directly into their hands.”

Emap’s Grazia, which with its focus on fashion and celebrity will be Look‘s main rival in a crowded marketplace, will have a guest editor and a designer giveaway to celebrate its 100th issue, out this week.

At the last ABC’s, Grazia‘s circulation was up 12.9% year on year, to give it a total figure of 175,218.

Last week, News Magazines, the magazine division of News International, announced that it would not be launching its own women’s weekly title, known as Project Dannii, onto the market (see News Magazines Shelves Project Danni).
