IPC Confirms Job Cuts

IPC has confirmed that a further 118 jobs will be cut from the company by mid-March 2002, but no further closures are planned at present. The move comes as IPC’s owners AOL Time Warner (see AOL Buys IPC Media For £1.15bn) have announced cuts to its own worldwide workforce.

The three month long process of consultation began on Wednesday this week when discussions with staff were initiated. Last month the company announced the closure of its exhibitions business and six of its magazines, with the loss of 115 jobs (see IPC Closes Six Magazines).

A spokesperson for the company today pointed out that while there were no plans for further closures, nothing is guaranteed in the present economic environment, and that IPC is “constantly reviewing” the performance of its brands.
