IPC Connect Restructures Publishing Team
IPC Connect have announced a restructuring of its publishing team. Four publishers have been appointed to focus on the subsectors in which the company operates- Classic, Mature, Easy Entertainment and Celebrity.
Two of the new publishers will report to publishing director Sandy Gale, who commented: “IPC Connect is the market leader in women’s weeklies – the single biggest magazine sector in the UK- and this makes us a major business driver for IPC Media. As publisher of the market-leading brand in three out of the four sub-sectors in which we operate, we have delivered some great results over the past few years, but we are determined to achieve more.”
He continued: “Over the last three years we have developed a significant and highly profitable Specials programme, and this new publishing structure will ensure that we can drive sales and profits in this powerful sector even harder and faster.”
The two publishers reporting to Gale include Oswin Grady, who is moving from Woman’s Weekly to become publisher of Woman and Woman’s Own, a role he has already covered while Allison Greenfield was on secondment to the IPC Strategic Planning team. Sally Hogg is to join from Redwood to take on Grady’s Woman’s Weekly role, having spend six months on placement at both that title and Chat. The restructure means that IPC Connect is now seeking a new publisher for the Chat, although Hogg will continue to cover the role for the time being.
Andrew Kirkland, who joins from IPC Southbank as publisher of Now, will report to publishing director Sarah Fisher. Kirkland is currently group circulation manager at Southbank, within IPC’s distributor Marketforce. Another recruit from Marketforce is Lynsey Bushell, who has been appointed assistant publisher in Connect’s Teen sector, taking particular responsibility for Mizz.
