IPC Electric Is Unveiled
IPC Magazines has launched its £25 million internet business, announced last month (see IPC To Invest £55m In Internet Ventures). Expanding the presence of the group’s brands on the web through e-commerce, the first project of IPC Electric will be a dedicated women’s network to be launched later this year.
Led by Rene Carayol, the company has signed up Hewlett Packard and BT as business partners and is currently negotiating with retail partners. “IPC has been in web publishing for some four years, with a number of critically acclaimed sites…IPC Electric is going to be taking our Web and digital presence several steps further,” said Carayol.
The main focus areas for the venture have been announced; women will be the first priority with a dedicated network of sites planned. Hilary Burden has been appointed women’s new media director to supervise the operation. Further projects will be based around music, lads, home interest, leisure and sport.
