IPC Ignite! Appoints New Cross-Media Manager

IPC Ignite, the music and men’s magazine division, has appointed Victoria Smith to role of cross-media solutions manager with responsibility for generating media owner partnerships.

The newly created role will see Smith charged with forging new partnerships for the IPC Ignite brands, which include from established magazines such as Loaded, Uncut and NME, as well as new additions such as men’s weekly, Nuts.

Smith will report directly to Karl Marsden, group advertising director at Ignite, who said: “Victoria joins us having built up an excellent spectrum of experience – both in the UK and abroad. Her objective is to seek out other like-minded media owners who feel that in certain instances there are benefits to be delivered to advertising clients if we work together.”

Smith joins IPC with experience in several media areas, having been key accounts group manager at ACP, a successful Australian magazine publisher, group account manager at Virgin Radio and part of the launch sales team at Channel Five.

She said: “The Ignite portfolio is in great shape – and now includes the world’s first general interest weekly for men. So it’s the perfect time to seek media owner partners with whom to broaden our communications offering. The real value here is to offer clients and agencies who require multi-media solutions a really integrated communications approach.”

The move comes after Emap appointed James Mallinson as its first ever cross-media director late last year. Mallinson has responsibility for developing the FHM brand across a range of platforms, putting him in direct competition with Smith for market dominance by their respective titles (see Emap Appoints First Ever FHM Cross-Media Director).
