IPC Makes Appointments And New Magazine For Attic Futura

IPC has appointed Sally O’Sullivan as editor-in-chief and Jan Henderson as editor of its women’s general interest monthly Woman & Home.

Ms O’Sullivan, who joined IPC in January this year as editor-in-chief of Ideal Home and Homes & Ideas, will now also oversee the continuing development of Woman & Home. Chris Boyd, managing director of SouthBank Publishing Group, says: “Woman & Home is already renowned as being a vibrant and stylish title for the grown-up woman and I am extremely confident that Sally and Jan will develop this strength further.”

Recent NRS figures however show that the IPC stable of women’s titles is not performing strongly *(Newsline 26/07), with Woman and Home dropping over 20% to 1.3 million readers. Woman also lost 7.2%, bringing readership down to 2.54 million and Woman’s Realm’s readership fell by 9% to 1.1 million. Hello!, published by Hello Ltd, showed the strongest performance, with readership increasing by almost 7% to 1.6 million readers.

Attic Futura, publisher of teen magazine Sugar, is planning to launch a new title aimed at the women’s magazine sector. The company is understood to be recruiting a publisher and editor for the title at the moment.
