IPC Media has teamed up with Pluck in a bid to boost its social media offering.

The www.marieclaire.co.uk and www.look.co.uk publisher hopes the partnership will increase online user engagement and improve links between IPC Media websites and social networks such as Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter.

It follows the recent appointment of Cathy Ma, a former media consultant at Vodafone, as IPC’s new social media product manager.

Pluck, which is owned by Demand Media, provides media sharing applications and discussion tools.  The social media platform has also teamed up with the Guardian and Hearst.

Tara Whitake, IPC Digital’s head of programme management, said: “Social media has changed the role of online publishers forever. Content creation is now just one part of successfully engaging consumers and it is critical that great journalism is enhanced with passionate user content, insight and conversation.

“IPC Media is extremely well placed in this exciting era, with lots of thriving communities that are passionate about the subjects we write about. The addition of Pluck will help us to take our communities and our brands to the next level.”

Stephanie Himoff, vice president of sales & business development for Demand Media, added: “We and IPC share a passion for ceaselessly exploring ways to engage readers. We are proud and eager to deploy Pluck’s social media capabilities on some of IPC’s flagship properties giving their audiences something that they can’t get anywhere else.”
