IPC Music & Sport Announce Appointment And Promotion

IPC has announced key appointments in its Music & Sports division. Keith Kendrick is to take on the mantle of editor of flagship lads mag Loaded, the job made famous by its first incumbent, James Brown, who has since gone onto form his own company (see Ex-Loaded Editor Plans To Float New Venture).

Since his departure, and with the inevitable flooding of a newly-created market, the magazine has struggled to retain its original success. Kendrick, described by IPC Music & Sport’s MD, Mike Soutar as “a serious player,” comes from a background which has taken in investigative and foreign news journalism through to editing women’s weekly Chat. When he joined Chat in 1997 it had suffered an 11.5% year on year decline. Kendrick has since achieved three years of increases – presumably it is this magic touch which IPC wish to turn on Loaded.

IPC Music & Sport has also announced the promotion of Gabrielle Bell to senior marketing manager for its music brands. She will take responsibility for both print and online brands “in line with IPC’s media-neutral brand-centric strategy” said the company. Bell, who joined IPC Media in February last year as marketing manager for nme.com, will take up her new position immediately.

IPC Music & Sport’s marketing director Vijay Solanki said, “Gabrielle will help us to focus on the music marketplace, providing the publishing team with expert consumer insight of this sector. Her role will be to develop brand strategy, implement marketing plans and manage her new team.”
