IPC’s Farqhar To Take On Additional Marie Claire Role

IPC Southbank has announced that its marketing director, Helen Farqhar, is to take on the additional role of business director for Marie Claire, following the departure of the magazine’s publishing director Rita Lewis last week.

Farqhar came to her current role at IPC in October 2000 from Procter & Gamble, where she had been European brand manager for Vidal Sassoon and new product development haircare brands. She is already on the IPC Southbank Board and will now join the Board of European Magazines, the joint publishing company of IPC and Groupe Marie Claire which publishes the UK edition.

Tim Brooks, IPC Southbank’s managing director, said that Lewis was “A tough act to follow” but added that he was sure that Farqhar would “rise to the challenge.”

Demand for the current issue of Marie Claire, which features it first ever male cover star- David Beckham- has led to IPC increasing the print run (see Cover-Man Beckham Ups Demand For Marie Claire), but in the July-December 2001 ABC figures, the title saw a year on year fall in circulation of 4.6% (see NewsLine).
