Irish Radio Industry Survey

The results for the 1992/3 JNLR/MRBI listenership survey show little change in the listening pattern which has emerged over the past years.

Independent local radio reaches 50% of all listeners placing the sector ahead of RTE Radio 1 and 2 FM on a national basis.

Highland Radio in Donegal increased its market share to 64% making it the top station in the country.

Market share shows local radio at 41% nationally compared to RTE Radio 1 at 39% and 2FM at 19%. Chief Executive of the Independent Radio and Television Commission, Michael O’ Keeffe, said that the most positive aspect to emerge was the continued growth in radio listenership generally.
