Irish Radio Listenership Report

The latest trend data issued by JNLR/MRBI shows a further consolidation of listenership to independent local radio throughout the country.

Nationally, listenership to local radio is 49% compared to RTE Radio 1 with 40% and 2FM at 28%. Dublin listenership remained relatively unchanged with combined results for Classic Hits 98FM and FM 104, at 40%. In Cork, County Sound has increased its listenership by 2 points to 51% compared to RTE Radio 1 at 39%, 2FM at 28% and Cork 89FM at 13%. In the area “Rest of Leinster”, listenership increased by 2 points to 49%.

Michael O’Keeffe, IRTC Chief Executive said that “The improvement in Leinster is particularly welcome in that it shows that local radio strength is not confined to specific regions of the country only”.
