The Independent Radio and Television Commission (IRTC) has just written to the eleven pilot community radio stations offering each of them a one year extension to their contract to take them up to the of 1997.
The IRTC has expressed satisfaction at the performance of the stations which are approaching their first anniversary on-air. Each station must submit a brief report on its progress and development plans for 1997.
The community stations are in Cork, Dublin, Galway, Limerick and Mayo.
