ISBA appoints Mark Finney as new director of media and advertising

ISBA has appointed Mark Finney as its new director of media and advertising following Bob Wootton’s decision to leave the advertising trade body after 20 years.

Finney, a media communications strategist, has worked on both the agency and client side with advertisers including Orange, HSBC and Mastercard.

“I am delighted that ISBA has been able to attract a media professional of Mark Finney’s calibre to lead ISBA’s media activities on behalf of British advertisers,” said Mike Hughes, ISBA director general.

“Mark brings a wealth of experience as a media communications strategist, with a clear passion for media matters, particularly in the online domain.

“Advertisers continue to face media challenges, whether in the more traditional media or the online space, including transparency, ad fraud, brand safety, ad blocking, viewability and the challenge of data ownership and the complex EU legislation ruling it. The discussions on the future of the BBC and C4 impact on advertisers as will the planned revision of the EU law on Audio-visual Media Services.

“I am confident that Mark will build on Bob Wootton’s excellent work in leading ISBA’s media agenda, helping members to address the issues arising from an increasing rate of change in the media landscape.”

Wootton, who also writes a regular column on Mediatel, said he decided to move on from the body that represents UK advertisers to pursue a portfolio career comprising industry-level work and non-executive roles, as well as resuscitating his private consultancy offering.

He is set to leave on 22 April.
