ISBA Appoints New Director-General And President

ISBA, the Incorporated Society for British Advertisers, has today announced two senior appointments. Malcolm Earnshaw will take over as new director-general, and Dick Spelman has been elected president.
Earnshaw has worked for Mars for the last twenty years, holding a number of senior UK and global marketing position and has been vice-president of ISBA for the past five years. He will take up his new position when the current president, John Hooper, retires in November.
Chris Searle, ISBA vice-president and chairman of the selection committee which made the appointment, said: “We had a very high quality choice of applicants and were able to make our selection from an impressive long-list. There is an exciting challenge in front of ISBA and I am certain that Malcolm will do an excellent job.”
Central to Dick Spelman’s new presidental role will be the chairmanship of ISBA’s Council for a two year term of office, taking over from Peter Blackburn. He is chief executive of Halifax Retail Financial Services and represents the diversity of advertisers now represented by ISBA.
Peter Blackburn said: “After six successive years of ISBA Presidency under representatives of companies specialising predominantly in fast moving consumer goods, it is pleasing to see the appointment of an ISBA president from one of our many financial services members.
