ISBA Reaction To Channel 5 Decision

Advertisers are excited by the prospects which the proposed new Channel 5 will open up, according to the Incorporated Society of British Advertisers.

Ken Miles, Director General, said, “Advertisers have been pressing to have a new channel for a long time to add a further competitive edge to their marketing. We shall now be doing our utmost to encourage the ITC to move as quickly as possible to advertise and progress the new service.”

Under the proposal for digital services, it seems probable that most major cities will be able to receive Channel 5; “We have campaigned for a city based service, and we believe this is what C5 will provide. The government has had to make some difficult decisions and we think they have got this one about right”, said Miles.
