ITC Allows Centre Break Advertising

ITC Allows Centre Break Advertising

Following a request from broadcasters, the ITC has ruled to allow advertising breaks in half-hour documentary programmes shown on the three commercial channels. It believes that “the advantages to viewers outweigh any detriment.”

The ITC anticipates that the documentary genre will benefit from more frequent peak-time scheduling as a result of centre advertising breaks. It also argues that technological advances in programme-making will prevent the integrity and continuity of the programme from being disrupted.
