ITC and BBC Revise Rules On Political Broadcasts

The Independent Television Commission (ITC) and the BBC have announced some revisions to guidelines on the allocation of party political broadcasts. The consultation, which began last year, decided that further consideration was needed to the scheduling times of such broadcasts, and the new proposals set out a plan to focus party broadcasts at key times in the political calender.

The majority of broadcasts will now be aired during election time, although additional broadcasts around key events, such as the Queens’s Speech and party conferences, will also take place. The Commission has published its proposed allocation of political broadcasts, and the information is available on http://www.itc.org.uk/.
