ITC Defends Itself Against Flextech
The Independent Television Commission has defended itself as acting “within its powers” following the Judicial Review sought by Flextech in the High Court yesterday. The cable and communications company is seeking a review of the ITC’s decision to remove minimum carriage requirements for cable and satellite channels (see Newsline).
A spokesperson for the ITC said that it had pursued “the correct procedure” following accusations from Flextech that it was acting beyond its legal authority.
The ITC is currently also reviewing the licence fee tariffs for channels 3, 4 and 5 in anticipation of the increased costs of regulating and licensing digital television.
