The ITC has expressed concern over changes to regional programming proposed by Yorkshire and Tyne Tees Television. These changes will result in increased amounts of regional programmes in peak-time, but the ITC doubts whether the new programmes will improve services, with two major concerns.
The first is an increase in co-productions and the second is the reliance on short features within magazine programmes as distinct from completely separate programmes, to meet most of the non-news requirements set out in their licenses.
Members of the ITC said they were unable to approve these changes without further evidence, so will review the new schedules after three months, ie in March 1996.
