ITC Fields Complaints On Digital TV Advertising

In its latest report, the Independent Television Commission recorded a number of complaints directed at three of the main television companies involved in the imminent launch of digital television (see Newsline).
Granada’s advert promoting the TV2000 scheme, in regard to equipment offers for the receipt of their digital service, received complaints that it was misleading. Sky also received similar complaints in regard to the promotion of its news services.
Lastly, Cable & Wireless Communications received complaints in regard to its ad for the L!VE TV Channel, which it placed on the Cartoon Network. The ad contained material which complainants believed was unsuitable for children. The ITC upheld the complaint, and the group apologised for offence caused.
