ITC Makes Senior Appointments

The Independent Television Commission (ITC) has announced two senior appointments, effective immediately. Chris Banatvala has been appointed head of factual programmes and Vena Raffle has been made head of advertising standards.

Raffle’s new position will entail managing a team of advertising standards and advertising complaints officers, taking responsibility for handling complaint responses and ensuring that the ITC Advertising Code is kept under review and applied consistently. She joined the organisation in September 2000 as an advertising standards officer, prior to which she was senior complaints officer at the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors.

Banatvala also joined the ITC in September last year as programmes officer with special responsibility for news and current affairs programmes. Previous to this he was senior political producer for Channel 4 News. He takes over from Steve Perkins, who was appointed controller of advertising and programme standards last month following the creation of the newly merged Advertising and Programmes Group (see ITC Announces Senior Appointments).
