The Independent Television Commission has today advertised a licence to provide a Commercial Additional Service on spare capacity within the broadcast signal for Channel 4 and S4C.
A CAS licence is usually used for subscription services or closed user groups. The spare capacity on C4 was originally advertised in 1992 but no bids were received; the ITC has received some expressions of interest and so has decided to re advertise it. The licence will be for 10 years. The closing date for applications is 3 August 1994. The licence should be awarded by the end of October 1994.
