ITC To Advertise 10 Local Cable Delivery Franchises

Licensees in ten local cable delivery franchise areas have asked the Independent Television Commission (ITC) to re-advertise their franchises on a non-exclusive basis. If these existing licensees apply by 3 August 1998, the ITC will aim to ‘fast track’ the consideration of the applications so that their new licences may be in force by the beginning of 1999.

The requests for re-advertisement of the franchises were made in responses to the ITC’s new local delivery licensing policy, announced in April. This states that cable licensees may take advantage of early re-licensing on a non-exclusive basis.

The areas being re-advertised are:
