ITC To Consult On Slimming Ad Code

The Independent Television Commission (ITC) is considering a change in its ruling on advertising slimming aids.

The key elements of the draft proposals are that any effectiveness claims in such ads must be backed by evidence of efficacy and safety. Also, all slimming advertisements must be qualified by medical advice.

Consultees on the proposed changes include the Advertising Association, the IPA and the Royal College of Physicians.
